Altar & Rosary Society

The Altar and Rosary Society at Immaculate Conception Church does some important work. We begin each meeting by praying the Rosary and we promote praying of the Rosary. This has included providing materials at the church and public praying of the Rosary in our local park.

One main thing we do is provide food following funerals held at the church - either providing lighter refreshments such as coffee and cookies or a full lunch.

We think helping grieving families in this way is one of the most important things we do. We also provide opportunities for fellowship throughout the year that include: coffees following Mass, brunches, and dinners. We are great cooks!.

Praying the Rosary and supporting grieving families

1. Deepening our relationship with God: The Rosary is a meditative prayer that helps us focus on the life of Jesus Christ and His mother, Mary. By reflecting on the mysteries of the Rosary, we draw closer to God and deepen our understanding of His love and sacrifice for us.

2. Intercession of Mary: When we pray the Rosary, we ask Mary, the Mother of God, to intercede for us. Mary is a powerful intercessor who brings our prayers and petitions to her Son, Jesus. Through her intercession, we receive graces and blessings that help us in our daily lives.

3. Peace and comfort: The Rosary is a source of peace and comfort. The repetitive nature of the prayers provides a calming effect, helping us to quiet our minds and hearts. In times of stress, anxiety, or difficulty, the Rosary can be a source of solace and strength.

4. Spiritual growth: Praying the Rosary regularly helps us grow in our faith and spiritual life. It encourages us to reflect on the virtues of Jesus and Mary, such as humility, obedience, and love. By contemplating these virtues, we strive to emulate them in our own lives.

5. Unity with the Church: The Rosary is a universal prayer that unites Catholics around the world. When we pray the Rosary, we join millions of other believers in a common devotion, strengthening the bonds of our faith community.

6. Protection against evil: The Rosary is considered a powerful weapon against the forces of evil. Many saints and popes have attested to its effectiveness in spiritual warfare. By praying the Rosary, we seek God's protection and guidance in our lives.
