In 1893 the first catholic church opened in Colfax (on the corner of Elm and East Division Streets, and the first resident pastor was Father A. Tyszka.
1913: The Church moved to the present site at the northeast corner of North Iowa and East Howard Streets, the building was enlarged and extensively redesigned following a Spanish style of arquitecture. Our parish is in Colfax, Iowa, also known as Spring City due to the mineral springs located here and once open to the public. We are located within the Diocese of Davenport, the twenty-two counties in southeastern Iowa.

Our parish is small, but we are friendly and welcoming as we work to embody the motto of the Benedictine Order, “Welcome all as Christ.” Everyone deserves to have experiences of Christ in their lives and that is our mission.

Please stop and say HI when you visit. IF there is anything we can assist you with place just ask, whether it’s information about receiving the sacraments, going to confession, joining the parish, or becoming Catholic.

Again, we’re glad you stopped by, and we welcome you to visit.

I have been blessed to be a member of Immaculate Conception since 1972. I have served as youth minister, Director of Religious Education and Director of RCIA. In 2002, by the grace of God, I was ordained a deacon by Bishop Franklin.

In 2004, I was appointed Parish Life Coordinator of Immaculate Conception by the Bishop and served until 2020.

Being a member of Immaculate Conception has been a blessing for me, as have been the people”.

Accepting and proclaiming the Good News

We, the community of Immaculate Conception, commit to live as a sign of Christ through worship, sacramental action, fellowship, education, and evangelization. We intend to show by example the love of Christ in our daily lives; accepting and proclaiming the Good News.
